Slutty Brownies with a Twist

Now, if you read my Mosaic Jello and Chocolate Berry Jam posts, you know I often take issue with names that people call dishes. So you would think I would dislike the name "slutty brownies" which is the coined term for a dessert that consists of layers of chocolate chip cookie and brownies sandwiched around Oreo cookies, but I kinda love the name.

Slutty brownies, originally created by the Londoner, are called so because they are "they're oh so easy, and more than a little bit filthy," which I think really fits. After all, "chocolate chip cookie oreo brownie bars" is a little cumbersome. If you dislike the name slutty brownies, call em "Working Girl Brownies" because not only is that an old school term for a prostitute, but I can tell you my coworkers loved these after a particularly grueling weekend at the vet office.

There are plenty of recipes that make these from scratch, but I'm sorry, I am not making anything from scratch that involves whole Oreo cookies... if I am eating Oreo cookies, I want the dish quick mean and dirty.  The original recipe had the cookie dough made from a box, but I took ease a step further and bought the refrigerated cookie dough.

Of course, as I was grabbing the supplies I passed a candy display and some Reese's caught my eye. I had to try them in this recipe. It turned out amazing, which opens my eyes to all the slutty brownie variation. How about chocolate chip peanut butter cookie base with nutter butters in the middle? Or white macadamia nut cookie base with almond joys? Oh dear god, this could be dangerous!

Easy cookie bites, plus my foot hehe!
The refrigerated cookie dough I had was already portioned into cookies ready for baking, which means all I did was let them get a little soft, then pressed them into a single layer. Even easier than scooping cookie dough out of the tub.

Slutty Brownies with a Twist

1 package of refrigerator chocolate chip cookie dough (approximate 1 lbs)
14-16 Oreo sandwich cookies
pressed into a layer
4-6 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
1 pouch of brownie mix*
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup water
1 egg

*if you use a boxed brownie mix, just prepare enough for a 8"x8" pan. For the oil, water, and egg, follow your brownie instructions.

Oreo layer
Reese's madness
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a 8"x8" baking pan with parchment paper. Place the cookie dough out on your counter for about 10 minutes so it softens, then place in the pan and press with your fingers into an even layer. Top the cookie dough with a single layer of oreo cookies, not overlapping but touching. If 16 Oreo cookies do not fit, cut to fit (my pan fit 14, with a row of halves). Place as many Reese's peanut butter cups as desired. Prepare the brownie mix according to directions, and pour on top of the Reese and Oreo layers. You might not use all the brownie mix, depending on how much candy you put between brownie and cookie. The brownie will approximately double in height, so plan accordingly. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the brownie is done. A poke test should not be completely clean, but it should not be overly wet. After cooling a bit, you can lift the entire dessert out of the pan by the parchment paper for easy cutting.
